We’ll begin in the dark, listening to the hymn “In the Bleak Midwinter.” Then we move to prayer for light, the Christmas story, more carols, prayers, and a meditation
The prayers are from The Book of Common Prayer. The hymn tunes are from a copyright-free site. If you know the words, please sing along (or grab a song book).
The hymns include “Angels We Have Heard on High,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” “Silent Night,” and “Joy to the World.”

Thanks for sharing this service. It’s late afternoon on Christmas Day, a perfect time to hear again these wonderful carols and the familiar Christmas passages. On Christmas Eve, we had our service via Zoom. We even had a pageant. Several families had separately filmed video clips that were stitched together and accompanied by a virtual choir–the members had recorded the different parts at home–I sang the bass parts–and they were woven together to create a mass sound. Yes, our celebrations were different this year, but it was particularly meaningful. This morning, we joined together for a Zoom Christmas morning service. I appreciated your message that we need to look more deeply into the manager. “There is no us and them…there is only us.” What a challenge and what an opportunity. Tonight, a small group of us will meet for Compline as we have done each weekday night since the start of the covid shutdowns. We use an amalgamation of elements from the Compline service from the BCP and from the New Zealand Prayer Book. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Have a joyous Christmas season, which is just now starting after all.
Listened when we got back home today.. thank you! The blessing at the end, God be in your head.. first time I heard it was in your Zoom series but I failed to find it online afterward. So glad you used it here as I’ve found the words and written them down (and listened to it sung by Choir of King’s College, Cambridge). Hearing the choir sing it just blew me away! Wow.
