Hi Jake, been playing that first bit repeatedly where you talk about… the kingdom of heaven, eternal life… “a life formed by God’s love, it’s a life built around and informed by, inscribed with, the love of God.” It made me think of my Dad’s ‘gospel in a nutshell’ illustration. He had a coconut shell with a banner wound up inside and he’d get someone to pull it out and on it was printed John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son… [the shell had a little winch to wind the banner back in again!] It was homemade like most of his practical illustrations – he and my mum would put them together. Anyway… I feel you’ve put everything I *need* to know into a few simple, blazingly clear sentences, you’ve put it in a nutshell. “formed by” and “inscribed with” – I’m particularly taken with those phrases used together … makes me think of a work-in-progress and we are, aren’t we … each a work in progress. Bless you Jake!
What a wonderful memory! I’m grateful that my words have served this way for you. And we are indeed works in progress, my friend.
