  2. Jake, this was a great message. We, the created, so desperately need to understand the significance of being created in God’s holy image, stated another way:of being His image bearers. IMHO, we image bearers have a huge role to play in our creator’s redemptive plan for His creation.

  3. Another provocative piece! I plan to quote from this sermon on Sunday.
‘Jesus came to help us remember. To remember our true selves. To recover our identity from even the darkest depths of forgetfulness. That is what we see in Luke’s account of what we now call the Transfiguration.’

  4. WOW! thanks, I like to invite folks to also remember “whose” we are, to remember that we are all part of a greater family.
the memory that came to my mind, is that of my first encounter with the Grand Canyon! I wondered why they called it the “Grand Canyon” seems like a far too simple name when I was there, that was the only adjective I could come up with! Grand! and the Wow of creation! We are uniquely grand creations of the Holy, and that is truly a WOW moment we are wonderfully and fearlessly made.

  5. I had occasion to say Wow today as I heard the heartbeat of my grandchild. And to imagine that the seed for him was planted in my own womb. Isn’t life amazing?! “When we love, we become our true selves.” Love! Joy! Wow!

  6. “Love is the nature bestowed upon us by the Holy One.” When I had the vision of my father’s heart – in God’s presence healed and forgiven, I learned about forgiveness from the heart. When I had the vision of your heart flooded in the overflowing abundance of God’s love, I learned about loving from the heart. These understandings are transforming my life and heart, I often think of them and as the understanding grows so does the Joy! Your line that I quoted, sums it up so beautifully.. my experience (as it’s happened and as it’s happening) is that Love is a transformation enabled by the gift of God. Forgiveness and Love for me were gifts of revelation enabling a heart-transformation.

    1. We share this insight and similar experiences. I’m grateful that what I’ve written has come along in your life when Holy One was already doing something that maybe hadn’t made itself known quite yet. Hearing of your growth and transformation always makes my heart glad.

  8. The phrase “I desire” came to me in prayer recently, and after considering what I desire, I was led to the deeper wonder of what God desires. I believe God desires each of us to continually say WOW when we consider the wonder God has created in each of us. Thanks for sharing.

  9. This is really beautiful. Thank you. I want to let you know that your posts have helped me to crystallize an understanding of what it means to be what I call “full-on human,” which is to be a being in this human form, shot through with the spark of divine consciousness. I wrote a short fiction series recently about what it actually means to celebrate Christmas, and as I was writing it, I realized how instrumental your posts and perspectives have been in helping me through these explorations. Thank you.
